Question:
What do we need to bring for outreach?

When the outreach location for your team is confirmed you will be sent a comprehensive list as the circumstances and materials needed may vary from outreach to outreach. This will be in addition to the general what to bring list is associated with the Gateway Camp. A general recommendation would be that bring luggage that you (and only you!) can carry in the type of terrain your outreach team will be navigating. Pack smart and light.

Can we communicate directly with our outreach hosts before we come?

Question:
Can we communicate directly with our outreach hosts before we come?

- For outreaches in Hong Kong, Yes. As soon as we find an outreach that fits your team, we’ll put you directly in touch with your hosts. Gateway Services Asia will then be available in a supporting advising role.
- For outreaches in Mainland China, for obvious reasons, GSA will remain the connection point between your team and your outreach host in most cases until you personally meet your host with a few exceptions that involve hosts that are working out of Hong Kong into the mainland.

The registration page is being further developed and updated on a regular basis. On the main page we will keep track of our newest updates. Besides that, we have a mailing list which we use to inform you directly about the newest information. When you still miss the information you need, please email us directly with your questions. We will answer those questions as soon as possible.

Please tell us also if you’re open to add other individuals or members from another team to your team

What if there’s no outreach on the list that matches our team’s interests? (Regarding such things as location, length of time, cost etc.…)

Question:
What if there’s no outreach on the list that matches our team’s interests? (Regarding such things as location, length of time, cost etc.…)

Please email or call us with your questions. We want to know what’s on your heart… or in your wallet, depending on what are your concerns… there are different locations that can receive teams with diverse skills and we can help arrange many different types of outreaches that will hopefully serve your teams best interests.

So please communicate with us. Again we’ll try to find or set-up an outreach that fits your team's vision (that is relating to a specific location, people group, type of outreach, or any other specific criteria not on the list...)

Do all the members of my team have to go on the same outreach?

Category:
Outreaches
Question:
Do all the members of my team have to go on the same outreach?

It is advised that all of your team members go on the same outreach in order to strengthen and build up your team in a way that serves your ongoing capabilities as a ministry long after the Gateway Outreach is over.

It is however, also possible to divide your team into 2 or 3 smaller groups each with their own leadership that can with different outreaches, but we recommend that this be done carefully considering the strength of leadership and what you long term goals are as a ministry. If you do decide to break up into smaller teams they will need to function as different teams during the Gateway Camp so that they are ready to go on outreach as a smaller group.

Are there any dangers associated with Christians serving in China today?

Question:
Are there any dangers associated with Christians serving in China today?

This topic too will be addressed during the Gateway Camp. In short China is a safe and hospitable nation. But like all nations their big cities have a diversity of citizens. There are also matters of wisdom and respect of laws and cultural norms that are necessary in order to benefit from the protection and care that is provided by an extensive security system.
