Question:
What about language translation?

The Gateway Camp Plenary sessions will be conducted in English and Cantonese from the front. There will also be simultaneous translation provided via head sets for the major language groupings that will be attending. This service will depend upon translators that have come with their teams. For all other group program activities, other then the combined camp gatherings, if you or your team members are unable to understand English or Cantonese it will also be necessary to provide your own translators. Question:
Is it necessary to stay at the Gateway Camp over night?

Yes, all staff and participants are expected to stay overnight. Exceptions can be made for emergencies, but in such cases the camp charges will need to stay the same as overnight stay due to the number of related contractual arrangements. The overnight stay is intended to maximize the personal and team Gateway experience by providing undistracted opportunities to spend meaningful time with the Lord, with those on ones team and the persons who have gathered from around the world.

What if we don’t want to or are unable to attend all the camp sessions?

Question:
What if we don’t want to or are unable to attend all the camp sessions?

The Gateway Camp is designed for committed Christian young people and families who desire to get to Know God more intimately and to discover more about who they are in Him. It is also for persons who have a desire to join Him in loving, serving and being a witness to the peoples of Hong Kong and China. The program is not intended for non Christians or for persons who would not be comfortable or interested in a discipleship or outreach preparation program.
The camp is being carefully prepared to serve the further equipping of committed Christians of all backgrounds, cultures and ages for an important time of ministry to the Lord Jesus and for those to whom He leads them. Each session is designed to build one upon the other in ways that include interaction with others. It is not practical to make up for one of these sessions since it involves much more than information. Consequently, it is expected that apart from sickness or personal emergency that all camp participants choose to make the most of their camp experience by attending all the sessions.

How can we help before and during the Gateway Camp as a team?

Question:
How can we help before and during the Gateway Camp as a team?

Helping before the camp: There are still a few opportunities to help with the advance preparations of the Gateway Camp as well as with local ministries preparing to be a part of the Gateway experience. Please communicate with our Gateway Office before making plans to come early. We have limited office and housing space. Also the needs are very specific and in most cases require specialized skills. It will be important to determine if what your team has to offer is suited to these needs and if so, whether we are able to find the appropriate accommodations. So again please contact us if you want to come early to help.
During the Camp: we will definitely need help with (logistics, worship, translations, etc…).
Please contact our office if you are interested in helping as HK Gateway Camp staff.

Question:
What is the generational linkage factor?

One of the unique aspects of the Gateway experience is the opportunity to share and learn from each other in intergenerational fun, worship, prayer and outreach. We try our best to do this in a manner that champions the unique interests and gifting of each age group while encouraging them to learn to enjoy and serve the Lord together.

Is there a minimum age for participants?

Teams
Question:
Is there a minimum age for participants?

Youth participants should be 12 years of age or older. Many university students and adults will also participate as the Gateway Camps and Outreaches are intentionally structured to be generationally linked for maximized benefit for the participants and those they serve on outreach.

Those younger than 12 who wish to participate must either come with their parents as a member of a participating family, or is temporarily adopted for the duration of the camp and outreach by other participating parents who are willing and able to take personal responsibility for these younger participants. Camp programs are designed to accommodate both youth and families including the younger ages but the personal care of those younger than 12, outside of the programs designed for their ages, will need to rest with responsible biological or surrogate parents.
